    Street Lighting

Surrey County Council has recently begun a brand new 25 year Street Lighting Contract with Surrey Lighting Services contractor Skanska. This involves either the replacement or refurbishment of all the Counties 89000 Street Lighting columns during the first 5 years alongside a continuing maintenance contract.

As part of our endeavour to maintain open communication with all local Council Partners, we wanted to send all stake holders some guidance regarding contact details, fault reporting and changes in the ways of working for both Street Lighting and Illuminated Street Furniture.

To aid us in this process we would appreciate it if you could distribute this email to all of your members. We would also like some information from members so would also appreciate a response to the following.

    PFI Replacement Programme
To answer any questions you may have about the replacement programme and the new contract a list of frequently asked questions (FAQ’s) can be found at the following link.

The programme for the replacement and refurbishment works throughout the county can be viewed on the following link. This programme is updated weekly.

    Fault Reporting and Tracking
With a view to simplifying and standardising all fault reporting we have set up a fault logging system on the Surrey County Council external website. This system will allow you to identify specific assets and the type of fault they may have, also this will have the added bonus of allowing you to track all fault reports and their current status. To visit these pages please use the following link.

If you do not have access to the Internet you can still call our contact centre on
0300 200 1003 and they will report the fault on your behalf and issue you with a reference.

Festive Decorations/Christmas Lights and attachments to Street Lighting Columns
As part of the new contract, management and risk for all the lighting columns now sits with Skanska. As a result any attachments made to lighting columns such as Festive decorations, Christmas lights or hanging baskets will now require an assessment and approval from Skanska’s to determine the integrity and safety of both the attachment and the columns to be used. This will apply to both new proposals for festive lighting and current equipment that has been used in the past. So as to ensure all the necessary arrangements can be made in time for the forthcoming festive season we would request you inform both our Technical Officer Jack Lee
jack.lee@surreycc.gov.uk and Skanska surreylightingservices@skanska.co.uk as soon as possible regarding any festive lighting and attachments so as to avoid delay. You will also need to complete the attachment application forms, found on the following link.
If you have any questions or need advise relating to attachments please feel free to contact Jack Lee on the above e-mail address or on 02085 417054.
